RABAT- Abdelatif Wahbi, Morocco’s Minister of Justice, proposed what he sees as three approaches that would help implement a modern societal project and transform the condition of Moroccan women.

These steps include genuine political will, a clear stand against outdated mentalities, and bravery in legislative reform and enforcement of effective measures.

The statement was made in a speech read on his behalf during the opening session of a national conference organized by his party, the Authenticity and Modernity party, in his absence as he is currently sick.

He emphasized the party’s commitment to making a real difference, insisting that “a modern state cannot be built without ensuring true justice for women, which is not in contradiction with Islam.”

He stressed the need for a change in the status of Moroccan women and the rejection of outdated mentalities that use religion for political exploitation, asserting his party’s commitment to constitutional institutions and principles.
