SMC Corporation, a Japanese industrial automation titan with a predominant influence in the automotive sector, is establishing a subsidiary in Morocco, SMC Morocco.
The move is part of the company’s strategy to extend its presence across Africa, positioning Morocco as a regional hub to serve other African nations.
SMC has a significant global footprint, with operations in over 80 countries, encompassing 30 production units and five technical centers, extending to sectors such as agri-food, electronics, medical, pharmaceutical, and packaging.
The creation of SMC Morocco is expected to bolster economic ties between Rabat and Tokyo.
Furthermore, it solidifies Morocco’s stature as the second preferred destination for Japanese companies in Africa, trailing only South Africa.
