Spanish football team Almeria has officially offered to recruit Moroccan international player Zakaria Aboukhlal from French club Toulouse during the summer transfer window.

Aboukhlal, who entered Toulouse’s club history with an impressive performance in probably their best season, was embroiled in a controversy stoked by French media.

Accusations of misogyny were leveled against him for statements he never made. This was later proven to be misinformation, potentially fueled by bias against him for being a practicing Muslim.

The club’s lack of support during this crisis has been a significant factor in his decision to consider other clubs. Italian journalist and transfer expert Matteo Morito confirmed that Almeria views Abu Khalal as a primary target.

Aboukhlal, who contributed to Morocco’s reaching the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 42 matches with Toulouse. His contract with the French team is due to expire in 2026.

The player enjoys immense popularity in his home country, Morocco. During yesterday’s match against Cape Verde, his entrance was met with an overwhelming show of support.

The moment the announcer echoed his name across the stadium, the fans’ passionate chants in response were testament to their deep admiration and love for him.
