Moroccan TV channel 2M denounced the censorship exerted by the Algerian authorities on their journalists, sent to cover the presidential elections in Algeria.

2M said they officially contacted  the current Ambassador of Algeria to Rabat to allow two special envoys, namely ‘Abdelhamid Morabit and Nabil El Baradei’, cover the elections from the Algerian ground.

The source added that no answer from the Algerian authorities was received and that the two journalists decided to move to Algiers to do their job. Yet, on arrival, they got their cameras and their recording systems confiscated.

The Moroccan journalists provided all the required documents the Algerian Ministry of Communication requested journalists who wished to cover the elections to have.

Following this turn of event, 2M calls on all organizations working for the defense of the press to immediately intervene to put some pressure on the Algerian authorities to stop such practices.
