Arsenal are set to land World Cup winner Sami Khedira in January, according to reports.
Caughtoffside claim the Gunners have agreed in principle an £11mln move to sign the Real Madrid midfielder.
It is believed Arsenal will pay the German international £140,000-a-week at the Emirates.
However, Express Sport understands no move is yet to be sorted despite concrete interest from Arsene Wenger in Khedira this summer.
Wenger splashed £72mln on five major signings but did not sign a centre-back with Thomas Vermaelen leaving nor a defensive midfielder.
Arsenal have been hit with injuries in defence while Mikel Arteta has been criticised for his performances in midfield.
Arsenal have also been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvlaho, Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin and Borussia Dortmund ace Lars Bender.
