Corruption Scandal in Casablanca: “Give me Two Sheep Heads or I’ll……”

The following video features a corruption scandal that occurred in Casablanca, on the sidelines of the Aid Al Adha holy days, few days before the the celebration of sacrifice that will be celebrated tomorrow in Morocco.

The corruption scandal involves Casablanca’s Derb Sultan Caid, a Mkadem and various Moroccan Gendarmes, according to the video’s narration.

A livestock vendor revealed that Casablanca’s Derb Sultan Caid, joined by his Mkadam and his gendarmes forcefully took two sheep heads out of his garage and told him that “if he wants them back he should give 1500 dirhams.”

Many little kids, who can be seen in the video as well, also witnessed the corruption scandal and confirmed the event, as well as the narration of the livestock vendor.

The sheep’s seller said that ” I feel ridiculed [hogra in Moroccan darija]. It is a shame. I always give bribes to the authorities.”

The man who recorded the video said that this is only one case out of many. He wondered “how many cases like this occured? and how many livestock vendors were subject to the caid’s injustice.”

Towards the end of the video, the one could hear the man who was subject to the corruption act saying that “corruption is everywhere in Morocco and that he gives bribes”, on a more or less, “daily basis.”

He closed arguing that corruption has rocketed recently and that he doesn’t think Morocco will ever get rid of this scourge.
