A video on YouTube reports that Saudi Arabia decided to name a main street in the capital Riyadh “The Moroccan Sahara, in a symbolic gesture to further support Morocco’s autonomy plan in the region.”
The Moroccan Times understands, following an investigation, that the piece of news is not true and that the video was edited.
Indeed Saudi Arabia supports the Moroccan autonomy plan, yet the news of naming a street in Riyadh “The Moroccan Sahara” is all but true.
It is worth reminding that relations between Morocco and Saudi Arabia are very strong, especially following Morocco sending troops to help Saudi Arabia during the 1992 Gulf War.
