Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-One of the actors playing the role of a Saudi man in the movie Much Loved was sliced in the neck with a knife in Casablanca.
The young actor who performed in Nabil Ayouch’s most recent movie, which sparked a lot of controversy in Morocco and was banned by the Moroccan authorities, told ChoufTV the following:
“As soon as I gave a radio interview to an outlet in Casablanca, I headed back to my neighborhood. On my way, I was surprised by a man stopping me, a man whom I saw for the first time and whom I thought he was not a resident of my neighborhood.”
“He then asked me if I was the person who has just given an interview on the radio.
“I thought he would ask me probably questions on the movie, so I answered with a yes.
“But then, I was surprised when I saw him attacking me, before trying to slash me with a knife, directed at my face.
“Thankfully, I was able to save my life as I managed to get only slightly sliced in the neck.
“He accused me of damaging the image of Morocco.
“The movie’s aim is to shed light on prostitution. It carries a noble message. Much Loved denounces prostitution and calls for us to fight it,” said the actor in a sad tone.
It is worth reminding that several Facebook pages have been created recently since the Much Loved movie controversy was sparked in the North African Kingdom, with many calling for the murder of Lubna Abidar, the main actress in the movie.
Lubna said that her parents received phone calls informing them that their “daughter will surely be soon liquidated.”
