Several Moroccan civil society organisations called upon Madrid to assume its responsibilities about its past usage of chemical weapons against Moroccan civilians, in an inhuman act, to repress their anti colonialism resistance in the Rif region, Northern Morocco.
The Spanish army, hence, was the first in the world to use chemical weapons against civilians. Up to the moment, Spain has never officially admitted its responsibility.
