Morocco and Libya to Improve Economic Relations

Morocco and Libya, while examining new opportunities to reinforce economic ties and relations, government officials and analysts stress that there is still room for improvement between the two Maghreb countries.

Last week, the two countries have held their second economic summit which evaluated the expectations and progress of the recently new partners.

Bilateral trade reached 900 million dirhams (80.1 million euros) last year and Libya’s direct investment (mostly in real estate) in Morocco has spiked since 2011.

The Moroccan minister delegate for foreign trade stated in a conference that the numbers could be higher. Minister Mohamed Abbou also declared that improved Moroccan-Libyan relations open new doors, and present the entire Maghreb with better chances.
