The Moroccan Times has learned from Indian and Bangladeshi  media outlets that the current Bangladeshi ambassador to Morocco is being sued in New York by his former domestic aid for abuse charges.

The lawsuit says Bangladeshi ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Monirul Islam,  and his wife, forced their former domestic  to work 17 hours a day for more than 18 months, without a day off.

The former domestic aid, Mr. Rana Mashud, who used to work for the ambassador while in Manhattan and before joining Morocco, said he would complete his daily tasks by approximately 11:00 pm each night, and that he was required to work up to 1.am if his employers had to come late.

The Bangladeshi  ambassador to Morocco has refuted this  and said that as soon as he was posted to Morocco, he told his domestic to join him but he answered  him saying he came to America to stay in America, not to go to Morocco.

Mr. Monirul Islam added “When I told him that I would inform the police, Mashud threatened me that he would file case against me,” Monirul said.

The Bangladeshi ambassador to Morocco added that his domestic used to watch TV late at night no matter if Mr. Islam’s family was inside or outside the apartment.
