Obama considers the supply of Syrian rebels with anti-aircraft missiles

After his visit to Saudi Arabia, Barack Obama could allow the shipment of shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles to moderate sides of the Syrian Opposition.

The defence systems known as manpads, are possibly going to be shipped with help from Saudi Arabia, in order to fight the Syrian regime that is led by Bashar Al-Assad.

The Saudi government has abstained from supplying Syrian rebels with such advanced weapons, as the US had concerns that they would fall in the hands of extremist factions of the Syrian opposition.

It is important to note that the US-Saudi relations have seen better days due to several events such as the Iran talks, and the US’s reluctance to pursue military action in Syria.
