A multi-story ferry sank off South Korea’s southern coast on Wednesday. The ship was carrying 459 people, most of which are high school students, who were meant to go to a tourist island.

Nearly 300 people are still missing despite the long search and tremendous efforts dedicate for this purpose, using both ships and helicopters.

It has been reported that, so far, three people were confirmed dead and 55 injured. The number of the missing passengers may lead to a drastic increase in the death poll, making it one of the biggest ferry disasters in South Korea since 1993, when 292 people perished.
