In a recent interview with Rabat based media outlet Al Assima(The Capital), Moroccan Minister of Family Bassima Hakkaoui said it is time now to review the Family code.
Hakkaoui said: ” The 2004 family code has indeed improved women’s conditions in Morocco. Yet, it is time for more amendments.”
“premature marriages have dropped drastically in Morocco thanks to the 2004 family code but we can do better in many other aspects,” she added.
“Today, all the civil society and NGOs must come together to discuss past improvements and prospective amendments to the family code, ” she concluded.
