At least 4 people passed away while more than 50 were injured when 3 buildings collapsed in the Borgoune neighborhood of Casablanca.
The sad event happened today morning at around 2:30 a.m.
Around 50 people were trapped under the rubble before the authorities could rescue, in a matter of 3 hours, forty-four people, including six children, said Abdelali Ghadoual, the regional commander of civil protection in Casablanca.
As relayed by Febrayer, a local witness was caught saying, few minutes after the start of the rescue operation, the following:
“Just after taking shour, I heard the walls tremble. At first, I thought it was an earthquake so me and my wife took the children and ran outside. As soon as we were out, the first building collapsed.”
“I am pretty sure there are more people under the rubble,” he said.
The victims are a ten-year old boy and a forty-five year-old woman. Both of them were found lifeless under the rubble.

Casablanca’s authorities had to call for reinforcements from Rabat’s and Settat’s Civil Protection to contain the situation.
Local citizens were also seen helping during the rescue operation.
Search operations are still underway to find other people who may still be trapped under the rubble.

An investigation was opened by the local authorities to determine the causes of this incident.
