A video (check it out underneath) featuring 2 imams leading the Maghreb prayer in a local mosque in Casablanca sparked outrage and total condemnation among Moroccans on many social media platforms, especially on Facebook.
The man who uploaded the video on Youtube, and who goes by the name Soufiane Chibi, said that what initially triggered this unusual event was a spat between 2 Nakabates (a Nakaba is a union that takes care of the mosque’s necessities).
After the spat, each Nakaba decided to pray far away from members of the other Nakaba.
It is highly expected that the Moroccan authorities will soon interfere to bring to a halt point this spat, especially given the fact that “politicizing” mosques in the country is “a crime under the Moroccan law.”
At the same time while the “2 prayers” were tacking place, the one could hear dismay among local witnesses. One of them literally said that “people responsible for this are the real evils.”
Another person was heard saying that “those people need to be stoned. Stoning is what they deserve.”
