Manchester United agreed a €81 million deal with Real Madrid for winger Angel Di Maria.
With talks between the two sides having accelerated in the last 24 hours, Di Maria has now arrived in Manchester and is expected to agree personal terms and complete a medical on Tuesday, Goal reported.
Louis van Gaal’s side will offer Di Maria a wage packet that will eclipse Wayne Rooney’s €360,000-per-week deal, including the Argentine’s €6m signing-on fee and additional bonuses.
United will pay Madrid a British record fee in the region of €81 million, including add-ons, for the former Benfica star, surpassing the €63 million that Chelsea shelled out to Liverpool to take Fernando Torres to Stamford Bridge in 2011.
The 26-year-old, who fell down the pecking order at Madrid following the summer arrivals of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, could go straight into the United squad for the Premier League meeting with Burnley on Saturday.
