Nigerian troops captured a high ranking member of Boko Haram terrorist group in the strategic town of Konduga in Borno State, after he was wounded in an operation.
During a fierce battle with the militants of the extremist group, the Nigerian soldiers captured one of the group’s top commanders and killed several others, The News reported.
Some 60 members of the terrorist group died in series of attacks they launched to gain access to Konduga environs.
Konduga has been the target of multiple attacks in the last one week owing to its proximity to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, which the terrorist group has been attempting to capture.
Boko Haram, whose name means “western education is forbidden,” says its goal is to overthrow the Nigerian government.
