A statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said that Mbarka Bouaida represented Morocco in the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Gaza, held in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

On the occasion, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that “on the basis of the High Instructions of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, Morocco has taken the initiative of providing humanitarian and financial aid, as symbol of solidarity with the Palestinian brothers,” the statement read.

Bouaida added that “that Morocco will contribute to the reconstruction plan of Gaza, through the implementation of several projects, the nature and configuration of which, will be determined, in coordination with the Palestinian National Authority, within the framework of the UN mechanism to be set up for this purpose, in addition to a technical assistance that will be provided to Palestinian professionals, who will participate in the reconstruction operation.”

The Delegate Minister also expressed “Morocco’s conviction that the various partners’ joint efforts and sincere will, will allow the achievement of the desired objectives namely, the social and economic development which represents the basis for the re-launching of a serious political action that will enable the achievement of security and peace in the region.”

Bouaida went on further to stress that “the Gaza reconstruction plan, prepared by the Palestinian Authority, reflects the Palestinian brothers’ seriousness, their commitment to peace and to their aspiration to live in peace and security, within the framework of the two-state solution.”

“The reconstruction plan represents a suitable opportunity to promote the Palestinian private sector, through setting up partnerships with economic operators from other countries, stressing the need for all to work for the reconstruction and noting that the first step, in this direction, is to lift the embargo and allow the entry of aid, in coordination with the Palestinian National Authority, under the relevant UN mechanisms,” Bouida said, a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Ms. Bouaida reminded, moreover, that the international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza is held following the recent Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, which resulted in casualties among innocent civilians, including children and women, caused an unprecedented destruction and created a disastrous situation.

This situation, she continued, is often exploited to feed violence, extremism and hatred, at a time when the region is experiencing tension because of the resurgence of the phenomenon of terrorism, the fight of which requires a comprehensive approach, that doesn’t rely only on the security-based approach, but also takes into consideration the issue of development, as well as the social, spiritual and cultural dimensions.
