Following Bayern Munich literally thrashing Roma 7-1, recording in the meantime their biggest ever away win in the Champions League, Mehdi Benatia’s former jersey (image above) with Roma was used by Bayern Munich fans all over the net to pull AS Roma supporters’ legs, not to say to ridicule them, especially that Benatia was jeered by the Roma supporters from all over the stadium whenever he had a touch on the ball.
The game was, as a matter of fact, one of the worst ever played games in Roma’s history, especially that they were “burnt at home.”
The thrashing has prompted Daniele De Rossi to personally apologise to the Roma fans.
De Rossi even went further to describe the loss as “a dagger at heart.”
Some Italian news reports claimed that Roma’s president was caught crying after the humiliation.
