A statement from Morocco’s Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Morocco “will give its active support to the United Arab Emirates in their fight against terrorism and for the preservation of regional and international peace and stability.”
“This action, which comes under the tradition of the fruitful partnership and the strong solidarity between the two brotherly countries, reinforces a longstanding multifaceted military and security cooperation with Gulf States,” the statement further noted.
“In addition to its recognized commitment to international humanitarian and peace keeping operations, the Kingdom of Morocco has participated in several military operations, to defend the national security and territorial integrity of brotherly and friendly countries, namely in Congo, Golan, Zaire (DRC), or Saudi Arabia, in 1990, after the invasion of Kuwait. Similarly, hundreds of Moroccan military had previously been, over several decades, deployed on Emirati territory, within the framework of the contributions to the training and the security of Abu Dhabi Emirate,” the statement closed.
