It took only few hours of heavy rain falls yesterday to flood various neighborhoods of Morocco’s capital Rabat, the country’s economic hub Casablanca, Asfi and various Moroccan cities’ neighborhoods across the kingdom.

The flood lead to the closure of many local roads. Even Rabat’s prestigious “Mohammed V Avenue,” where Rabat’s main train station is located, was not sparred from the floods.

No casualties were reported but a handful cases of cars damaged from flood water were reported by locals.

While some Moroccan Internet users sarcastically commented on some videos arguing that “Morocco has now a submarine tramway”, others called the spade a spade and pointed out “infrastructure corruption” as the main reason behind the floods.
