The Islamic State: God’s Wrath On Earth

There is no doubt that the year 2014 will be marked as a year to witness the birth of the most fearsome terror group in the form of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This radical group of fundamental Muslims from all over the world spread more fear globally than any other known organization in the modern history. Their gruesome videos and public executions are incomparable and send chills to the bravest man’s spines.

A lot has been said about this organization and how it was founded. There is almost a unanimous consensus that ISIL is the Western Intelligence Services’ baby, and a tool to maintain the balance of power in the Middle East. With the growing and rising Iranian influence in the region, as well as the manner the former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki run the country, with all his administration’s discrimination against Sunnis. Moreover, if we add to these two factors, the Alawite regime in Syria and its decades of reign, and of course the Iranian proxy in Lebanon “Hezbollah”, it was just a matter of time until those who have felt oppression under those regimes to form a coalition to survive. The foundation of any radical and fundamental group is the Middle East is well justified for the founders: It is a matter of survival; kill or get killed.

Many analysts compare ISIL to Al-Qaeda in the way they were founded and funded. The world strongly believes that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was behind the founding of Bin Laden’s terror network, and any other operating terrorist organization in the world, including ISIL.

My statement here is that ISIL is an Islamic creature; it is the creature of the books and the nostalgia of the times of the Caliphate in the Muslim world. ISIL is a pure production of the Muslim environment in the Middle East. Those who have energized from the Salafi thinking, especially the Salafi-Jihadi ideology, founded ISIL; they fostered the extreme thinking of “Ibn Taymiyya”.

As per the Western assistance to any Jihadi group, it comes handy when they happen to be in areas wherein the U.S or any other Western entity has interests. We can take for example the Al-Qaeda. Osama Bin Laden founded it due to his saturation of the Salafi-Wahhabi ideology, and his deep beliefs that he had to assist the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan, and, of course, the U.S provided him with weapons and logistics to fight the Red Army. Al-Qaeda was not carrying a war against the Soviets by proxy; it was in Afghanistan because its members believed deeply in an ideology.

The same can be said about ISIL. Many men who studied well, and believed deeply in the expiatory thinking of Ibn Taymiyya founded this fearsome organization. These men are not only in one region; we find them, pretty much, in every country these days, fostering the same ideology, carrying the same ISIL flag and pursuing the implementation of the Salafi-Expiatory where they live. To them, everyone is a heretic as long as the Doctrine they believe in is not in place.

I even realized now, and more than ever before, that we cannot even talk about a systematic brainwashing ISIL is conducting to recruit. This can be so absurd and an amateur thinking. Members of this group, or any other group for that matter, are fully aware of what they are getting themselves into. It is not always due to poverty and ignorance that certain men decide to join. They know beforehand that once they are members of any terrorist organization, they will kill and might get killed, so the theory that they were promised a huge chunk of money is absurd; what would they do with the money if they are dead?! These men are true believers of an ideology that denies any other around. These men were denied their human side in them, they were dragged to an ideology that makes them deeply believe that they have to answer the call to defend God, as if God is powerless, while it is stated clearly in the Holy Koran that it is God’s duty to defend and stand by His believers. These men are totally lost.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is an Inside Job..

Now, this is the real cause of why societies are losing its finest men for this organization. They are doing so because they strongly believe that what they have learned in religious books were all wrong and the knowledge that has been introduced to them is what interprets Islam and the Holy Doctrine well. We should assume our responsibility in losing our youth. We emptied completely religion from its true core and true teachings. Islam became a tool used by both governments and terrorist organizations to spread hegemony over societies. This is the root of the problem, which the world is now facing; we have to look at the issue of ISIL with more pragmatism and realism rather than just bury our heads in the sand and blame the problem on any foreign entity.

We allowed these groups to play the role of God’s representatives on Earth. We prepared the ground for them to exist. We ignored and neglected the bottom layer of our societies, which opened the door widely for any organization to introduce itself to them as saviors and the sole way to get closer to the Deity. We allowed those organizations to offer death to our youth, something contrary to what God wants for us on this planet. They sell them death. In fact, we allowed that transaction to happen. We ignored them. We encouraged the teachings of Ibn Taymiyya to be circulating and poisoning the brains of the least educated ones. We are to blame, and let us face the truth. We are partners in crime to strip those young men to be stripped off their humanity and their love for life, and we surrendered them to those radicals to convince them that any killing they will commit, it will be for the sake of God. Every crime committed these days occurs in the Holy name of the Deity. The main question here is: Where are all those Islamic schools in the midst of what is happening to the nation? Are they too busy legitimizing regimes and issuing holy statements “fatwas”? I think those affiliated with Islam in our societies are too busy absenting people’s minds, and build a new Doctrine around falsehood and hypocrisy.

How can those radicals convince our children that all killings are to glorify the name of God? The same God who preaches for peace and coexistence. To them I say, if you kill in the name of the Deity, and if God aims at the destruction of humanity, then why Satan exists? You people are making the Devil look like an Angel. What is dramatic is that both camps use a religious reference to justify their actions and statements.

I am more confident now that both clergies and those in charge of religious affairs in governments and terror network have sold their souls to Mephistopheles.

It is with an immediate urgency that we get rid of the teachings of the Salafi teachings in our societies. There is no Muslim scholar throughout Muslims’ history, who called for not accepting and killing the other like Ibn Taymiyya. This man’s books should be burned, and any other book that calls for intolerance and denial of the other, just like what happened during the Spanish inquisition. We should create our own version of those inquisitions to extract the virus of radicalism from its roots.

Not any person with a beard or a turban becomes a clergy, not any man memorized the Koran is qualified enough to preach. Islam is about moderation and not fundamentalism. We have to dig deep for the roots of how we failed ourselves in spreading the true words of God; one has to begin with thyself before changing others. We are all guilty of the dreadful situation we have reached, we lost our focus on what is fundamental to emphasize on what brought upon the wrath of God, and ISIL is, by excellence, the perfect definition of the wrath of God. God is punishing us with our own making. No one to blame but us, and if foreign entities interfered, it is because we gave them the platform to expose and show their muscles.

To all those Jihadists and those who have fostered the expiatory ideologies, I tell you that Islam is all about spreading the word of God in a peaceful manner. Islam did not come to spread fear and terror, Islam did not preach for mass murder and killings, Islam brought justice and equality to all mankind and abolished slavery, Islam does not force others to believe in it if they choose not to, Islam is God’s Holy Doctrine, and He can and He will protect it, Islam does not need you to spell blood in the name of the Most Merciful. You cannot defy the words of God when He says clearly in the Surah of Bees (سورة النحل):

“ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ“

To governments, I urge you to consider reshuffling religious teachings and modify the educational system to what will better serve people. The bitter reality is that the network of ISIL and many other groups is growing because they find a fertile ground for their ideologies to flourish, because we make it easy for them infiltrate our strong social structures and crack them. ISIL is just around the corner, and if we do not take and implement the proper measures to form a solid shield against its deadly ideology, before we know it, we will see all what we have built collapsing and right before our eyes. Then, it will be too late to fight it. No one wants the model of Mosul and Ninawa in his homeland, so let us take some lessons from what is happening in Iraq and Syria, maybe we shall learn something.

ISIL and any other terror network is the wrath of God brought upon us, either to punish or wake us up, and as Genghis Khan once said: “I am the wrath of God.. if you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you“. The question is: Are we well equipped and prepared to face this wrath of ISIL?

We are all guilty as charged for what is occurring nowadays in our nations..
