Casablanca, Morocco (TMT)- Two blind children passed away last Monday after getting badly mauled by a garbage collection truck at the Victory Square in Derb Omar in Casablanca.

The children, a 14-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy were hit as they were about to cross the street to reach their school. The event occurred at 07:30 in the morning.

The two angels died instantly and their bodies were taken to the morgue by elements of the civil protection.

The two victims were schooled at the Ben Jdia Institute under the aegis of the Alawite Organization for Protection of the Blind in Morocco (OAPAM), reveals the civil protection of the city.

A manifestation of the blind people was held two days following the event in order to raise awareness and find mechanisms to protect blind children when they cross streets.
