Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced a few minutes ago that 5 more people have tested positive to the coronavirus in the timeframe between 9 am this morning and 20:30 pm this evening.

The authorities said that one case was locally transmitted, not through a tourist or a Moroccan living in Europe visiting Morocco.

The Moroccan Minister of Health Ait Taleb stressed that given this turn of events, “the next few days are quite decisive.”

“We estimate the number of people who were in contact with all cases in Morocco to stand at 1,362 but when locally transmitted cases appear, this figure will probably increase,” Ait Taleb added.

“We are prepared. Morocco has 44 hospitals dedicated to the coronavirus cases,” the Minister of Health added.

Prior to this case, all other cases witnessed in Morocco were cases of tourists visiting Morocco, Moroccans living abroad visiting Morocco, or Moroccans who were infected through the aforementioned two cases.

This brings the official total number of people infected to 54 in Morocco.
