Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Videos documenting Qaeds (A Qaed is the head of a Moroccan municipality appointed directly by Morocco’s Ministry of Interior) and authority agents abusing of their power, slapping and beating citizens have gone viral on social media platforms in the last few days.
One video especially of a Qaed wearing a black mask (featured video), subduing and humiliating people, slapping them and kicking them with his feet, generated a public outcry on social media, to the point it was the most trending video yesterday in the kingdom.
People who were subject to such predicament were not honoring the state of health emergency measures introduced one week ago in the kingdom.
The majority of people have condemned such acts, calling on the authorities to promptly open an investigation.
Nevertheless, a minority has lauded such acts, stressing that “citizens who do not respect the state of emergency deserve to be beaten as it is the only way they can understand.”
