Frankfurt, Germany (TMT)- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said yesterday in an address to her nation that her country would “cautiously start lifting the lockdown measures,” given that the health system is not overwhelmed, thanks to the steps taken in the last couple of weeks.

Merkel referred to the actual situation nevertheless as a “fragile interim success,” stressing that this limited success should not embolden people to not observe the coronavirus measures, issuing a warning to her compatriots to be cautious of a renewed wave of infections.

“We need to understand that we will need to live with the virus as long as there is no medication or vaccine,” Chancellor Merkel said.
