Morocco’s General Treasury Records 10.5 Billion Dirham Deficit

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- According to the latest report from the General Treasury, the financial state of the kingdom’s general treasury at the end of April 2023 revealed a budget deficit of 10.5 billion dirhams, compared to a deficit of 10.2 billion dirhams in the previous year.

This deficit incorporates a positive balance of 20.8 billion dirhams resulting from the treasury’s special accounts (CST) and the independent management of state facilities (SEGMA). In contrast, by the end of April 2022, the treasury recorded a deficit of 1.92 billion dirhams, considering a positive balance of 21.5 billion dirhams generated from the treasury’s special accounts and independent state facilities.

The report also highlighted that gross regular revenues witnessed an increase of 8.2 percent as of April 2023, while regular expenses experienced a decrease of 4.6 percent. Consequently, a negative regular balance of 1.77 billion dirhams was recorded.
