The Joint Committee for the Defense of Islamist Detainees staged a protest on Tuesday in front of the Parliament in Rabat, amid the 20th-year memory of the heinous terrorist incidents that occurred on May 16.

Clad with banners bearing powerful slogans, the demonstrators called for “unveiling the truth behind the May 16, 2003 events.”

During the demonstration, Abdul Rahim Al-Ghazali, the official spokesperson for the Joint Committee, voiced his belief that those who were arrested in connection with the incidents “are the actual victims.” He stated unequivocally, “We are innocent of any involvement.”

Al-Ghazali reiterated their firm demand for the Moroccan government to “launch an impartial and transparent investigation to expose the true instigators behind these events.”
