El Jadida’s regional law enforcement authorities apprehended on Wednesday forty-nine individuals, eighteen of whom are minors, in the wake of football-related disturbances that took place during a game between local club El Jadida and Wydad Casablanca.

These suspects are implicated in a variety of offenses associated with football hooliganism, such as drinking in public, theft, carrying bladed weapons, and committing acts of violence against public servants while performing their duties.

The security report detailed that “the accused, in conjunction with others, instigated actions consistent with football hooliganism both throughout and following the match held in El Jadida. Furthermore, they allegedly assaulted public security forces with a barrage of stones, inflicting injuries of diverse severity upon nine police officers and causing substantial material damage to a vehicle belonging to national security. These incidents transpired ahead of an effective security operation which resulted in the apprehension of the aforementioned forty-nine suspects.”

Adult suspects have been placed in custody, while the minors remain under close supervision.

The statement concluded by noting that, “Investigations are vigorously taking place with the objective of arresting the remaining individuals involved in these illicit acts associated with football hooliganism.”
