CASABLANCA-The preliminary court of Casablanca has initiated the trial of five individuals, including a police officer and a woman. They stand trial for establishing a criminal gang, coercive behavior, kidnapping, and Bitcoin trading.

During the first hearing which took place on the evening of last Thursday, the victim accuses a police officer of coercion, unlawful detainment, attempted kidnapping, and attempted theft of a significant sum of money and cryptocurrencies amounting to one million USD.

He stressed that the police officer, along with others, unlawfully restrained him in his home, handcuffed him, and that the officer abused his authority to coerce him into transferring large amounts of cryptocurrencies to a specific crypto address.

The police officer denies the claims and maintains that their association was solely related to Bitcoin trading.

It all started following a police raid on the house of the victim after complaints from neighbors. Back then, he told the officers who raided his home that the policeman and his associates are kidnapping and detaining him in his own house, and attempting to pilfer the aforementioned sum of money.

The police officer denies the claims and maintains that their association was solely related to Bitcoin trading.

The defense of the police officer argues for acquittal since the victim does not have any physical signs like handcuff marks, including the fact that cryptocurrencies are not officially deemed illegal in Morocco.

The police officer and his associates have been arrested on charges of abusing his power and his request to be released on bail was rejected.

Stay tuned for further updates as the court hearings unfold.
