A Football coach received a lenient sentencing for raping a young player, sparking outrage and calls for justice reform. After serving a one-year jail term, all the perpetrators were released. Subsequently, the family pursued an appeal in court seeking a harsher sentence for their daughter’s rape.

The family of a young football player has expressed yet again vehement condemnation of a judicial ruling they consider woefully lenient in a case involving the rape of their underage daughter, which tragically resulted in her pregnancy.

The family is demanding a thorough reconsideration of the initial ruling, a mere few weeks after a similar high-profile case shook public sentiment.

The principal defendant was the girl’s football coach. Five additional people were implicated in the act.

Astonishingly, the initial verdict issued by the primary court in Agadir sentenced the perpetrators to a paltry one-year jail sentence, despite their conviction for the offense of “non-violent rape of a minor that lead to pregnancy” in December 2021.

This case has reignited calls for legislative review and the imposition of stricter penalties concerning sexual assaults perpetrated against minors.
