Law enforcement officers in Rabat have arrested an individual accused of fraudulently exploiting the identities of others to secure illicit benefits from public and private sector officials.

The case began with a formal complaint from a woman working in a department linked to the King of Morocco, the main one that oversees the distribution of honorific medals.

She claimed a man had misused her personal and professional identity to send misleading text messages to officials, soliciting services and benefits for an unidentified third party.

After an expeditious investigation, the security services managed to apprehend the suspect. The individual was caught in the act, presenting himself as the service beneficiary at a national institution. He was using this identity to attempt to gain unjust benefits, exploiting his supposed connections within influential circles.

Following the arrest, the Public Prosecution in Rabat ordered a comprehensive judicial investigation.

The inquiry aims to unveil the complete details and scope of the fraudulent activities, verify the existence of other potential victims, and understand the broader implications of his crimes.
