Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- A state of heightened alert was triggered today, Monday, after the discovery of a suspicious car parked in front of the Moroccan Consulate. The incident prompted a swift response from the Belgian security services, local media sources reported.

The car, found unattended outside the consulate building, provoked an immediate and comprehensive response. Traffic was hastily rerouted, with entrances to the consulate area being cordoned off by local authorities to ensure public safety.

Bomb disposal experts were rapidly dispatched to the scene, intensifying the level of concern. Their arrival sparked wide speculation about the potential threat level and prompted questions about whether the car might contain explosive materials.

Speculations abound on social media, particularly among Moroccans, suggesting possible connections between the incident and groups such as the Polisario Front separatists or ISIS affiliates.

The security services have yet to confirm whether or not the vehicle contained any form of explosive device. Investigations are ongoing, and a comprehensive examination of the suspicious car is currently underway.

Authorities urged the public to stay away from the area and to follow official advisories until further notice.
