Yesterday, the national road linking Taourirt to Oujda witnessed an incident that almost turned into a tragedy, where a huge fire broke out in one of the passenger buses, which was on en route to Oujda.
According to local sources, the fire broke out in the rear wheels of the bus due to the incredibly high external temperatures, and the flames spread to the entire bus.
The passengers quickly evacuated, and thankfully no fatalities were recorded.
Nevertheless, two were injured and were transferred to the regional hospital in Taourirt.
The firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire, but it was too late. By that time, the flames had consumed the entire bus, leaving only the charred shell behind.
The incident mobilized local authorities and services of the Royal Gendarmerie, which moved to the scene and opened an investigation into the matter.
