Morocco’s football national team will be participating in an upcoming tournament slated to take place in Ivory Coast. The competition, akin to the FIFA Confederation Cup, is scheduled for October, during the FIFA break period for international teams, and just months ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (CAN), also hosted by Ivory Coast.

Regragui made this announcement following Morocco’s latest match against South Africa.

The number of teams joining the tournament will likely be four teams. The identities of the teams have yet to be disclosed, but according to local sources in the FRMF, in addition to Morocco and Ivory Cost, Senegal, and either Egypt or Algeria will be taking part of the event.

As a precursor to CAN 2023, this new tournament, reminiscent of the FIFA Confederation Cup, promises to be a significant test to the recently built stadiums that will host the African Cup of nations 2023.
