MADRID, Spain – Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto sparked controversy after a recent concert in Madrid, Spain, due to a dramatic encounter involving a fan’s act of cultural appreciation.

The incident unfolded when a fan began tucking numerous 20 euro bills onto El Grande Toto’s NBA Chicago shirt, a customary act in Morocco typically associated with ‘shickats,’ female dancers and entertainers, to convey admiration for their performance. The fan intended to honor this custom by pinning the folded bills to the rapper’s shirt.

El Grande Toto, however, did not react positively to this gesture. Instead, the rapper exploded in fury in front of the shocked crowd, using various times nasty F words.

“No Son of a … should tuck a single dirham (onto my shirt)….. I have money and I am paid and I don’t need any son of a ….”

El Grande Toto perceived the act as a humiliating gesture, equating him to a belly dancer or a performer paid per show. However, his vehement response was deemed excessive. There could have been a more tempered and graceful approach to express his discomfort.
