The study also pinpoints to the increase of childhood obesity, saying that 25% of children are obese.

The number of overweight and obese people went from 857 million in 1981 to more than 2.1 billion nowadays. According to the study, no country has managed to reduce obesity rates among its people.

The US topped the list of countries with the most obese people with over 78 million people, followed by China and India with 46 million and 30 million respectively. The other countries that made the list are Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, Germany, Pakistan and Indonesia. Obesity also increased considerably in Middle Eastern and North African countries, especially with girls.

Obesity is estimated to be the cause of nearly 3.4 million deaths in 2010. It is linked with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, kidney problems and cancer.
