Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s head of the government Abdellilah Benkirane said last Sunday in Tangier, on the sidelines of a speech he gave at the Press House, that the Chinese Industrial Park Investment was supposed to be in Safi, before being relocated to the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

Even though Benkirane did not shed light on the reasons that led Moroccan and Chinese government officials to relocate the project, Tangier’s proximity to Europe and its cutting-edge industrial zones may explain the decision.

It is worth reminding that the said project will be supervised by Chinese group Haite and will include an industrial and residential park.

The estimated $10 billion industrial park will include industrial complexes that will host affiliate Chinese companies that specialize in textile, automobile, aeronautics, among others.
