Sweden Opens First Palestinian Embassy in Western Europe

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Stockholm witnessed the inauguration of the first-ever Palestinian embassy in Western Europe.

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as well as the Swedish Prime Minister Lofven attended the inauguration ceremony due to its historical significance.

On the sidelines of the ceremony Abbas said that this recognition”should push forward negotiations in the peace process.”

The Swedish Prime Minister Lofven commented on the event stressing that Sweden will help Palestine fight corruption and other social problems.

“There are challenges: we must help one another to fight corruption, increase gender equality, improve respect for human rights, and of course continue the state building process,” Lofven said.
