Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- Algerian opposition party The Rally for Culture and Democracy (well known by its French acronym RCD) called upon the Algerian authorities to reconsider their decision of closed borders with Morocco.

While speaking at a party gathering, the secretary general of the RCD, Mohcin Belabbas said that “we must open the borders with Morocco to strengthen our competencies.”

“Those who oppose it are actually benefiting from the current policy of isolation. They are taking advantage of the current circumstances.”

Belabbas also said that opening the borders with Morocco will propel mechanisms to have a ” healthy free speech and a productive discussion on the current matters of discord.”

Abbas stressed that competitiveness can only be healthy for both Algeria and Morocco and that opening the borders will enhance this variable.

It is worth reminding that the Moroccan head of the government, Abdellilah Benkirane, has called upon the Algerian authorities, few months ago, to reopen the borders, a move that was met by deaf ears from Morocco’s eastern neighbor.
