Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-Morocco will be dropping a $3 million financial help to the MINURSO, which includes food and accommodation the kingdom provides for the members of the mission.

The move is part of the Moroccan government immediately taken measures in reaction to Ban-Ki-moon loosing his neutrality vis-à-vis the Sahara dossier when using the word “occupation” to describe Morocco recovering its Sahara from Spain in 1975.

Ban’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said yesterday that Morocco’s decision to drop financial help would have an impact on the MINURSO mission.

Morocco’s financial help is deemed to stand around $3 million.

It is worth reminding that Morocco also decided to reduce the number of staff numbers working for the civilian and the political segments of the MINURSO mission in Morocco. A list containing the names of 84 international staff members deemed “persona non grata” was sent yesterday to New York.
