Marrakesh, Morocco (TMT)- Abdul-Wahid Shannan ar-Ribat, a former Iraqi Army general who served as Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army during the reign of Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, said in a communiqué The Moroccan Times received, that he has lodged yesterday an application at the Westminster Magistrates Court in London “to initiate a private prosecution against Tony Blair, Jack Straw and Lord Goldsmith for the crime of Aggression in invading Iraq in 2003.”

According to documents released as part of the Chilcot report, an inquiry on the Iraq war, various British politicians were nervous about being accused of war crimes.

The Chilcot report documents reveal that Tony Blair and Jack Straw are well aware of warnings about potential breaches of the Geneva and Hague conventions.
