Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Ivory Coast’s legends Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou were caught sad following their ousting of the African cup of Nations 2017 after a 1-0 loss to Morocco, though stressing that their team will rebound soon thanks to the talent of its young players.
“This team is young and has talent. We need to supervise and support it,” Drogba said.
“Will it come back strong (after the Morocco loss) ?,” Drogba wondered rhetorically before answering, “yes. I believe it will.”
Salomon Kalou, who won the man of the match award despite his team’s loss to Morocco, officially announced his international retirement.
“I am 31, this is my sixth Africa Cup of Nations. I have been to a final and won another,” said the 31-year-old.”
This time things did not go so well. There are young players like Kessie, Zaha… I think they are the future of Ivorian football and I wish them god luck.”
