After his letter to François Hollande, the French-Moroccan boxer Zakaria Moumni, who claims to be tortured in Morocco, has sent an open letter to King Mohammed VI, calling for investigating his case.

“Today, it is your responsibility, as the head the Moroccan state, to shed the light on my case and explain to the French and the Moroccans who is behind all of this” wrote Zakaria Moumni.

Accused of tricking out 1,200 euros from two Moroccans in exchange for work in Europe, Zakria claimed that he signed a police confession under torture.

Zakaria  was sentenced to 30 months in prison, but he was released in February 2012, after spending 17 months of detention, following a royal pardon.

Worth noting that Zakaria Moumni is among those who sued Abdellatif Hammouchi, Territorial Surveillance General Director. This latter was convoqued by a French judge,  once he was in France for an official visit, the thing that triggered a short diplomatic crisis between Morocco and France.
