Moroccan Minister of Health El Ouardi said no special measures will be taken by the Moroccan authorities to check if illegal immigrants carry the Ebola virus.

The Minister added that doing so is a clear breach of Human rights as illegal immigrants are to be considered as natives in this regard.

It is worth pointing out that last week, the Ministry of Health announced that it has not registered any cases of the Ebola fever and that health monitoring has also been strengthened.

In a statement, the ministry has declared that they “are keen to reassure the public that Morocco is free of the Ebola fever epidemic, after the confirmation of 112 cases so far in Guinea.”

The same source added that “as a precautionary measure, and following the measures of the International Health System, the ministry is following closely the global epidemiological situation and has strengthened the process of health monitoring at the level of access points, in cooperation with the port authorities, particularly with  Mohammed V airport in Casablanca”.
