During a parliamentary session, Transport and Logistics Minister Mohamed Abdeljalil revealed that motorcycle driver fatalities have increased by 31%, reaching around 40% of total traffic accident fatalities in Morocco.

This, according to the Moroccan Minister, contrasts with the situation for car users, whose death rate has decreased by 30%.

Abdeljalil highlighted the growing problem of motorcycle traffic accidents and introduced a new program to tackle this issue.

The program involves distributing 50,000 protective helmets, an awareness campaign for motorcycle users, and enhancing road surveillance.

The ministry is evaluating the current action plan for 2017-2021 and preparing a new plan to align with UN goals of reducing road traffic fatalities by 50% by 2030.
