According to leading Spanish news outlet El Mundo, the court of first instance of Melilia has agreed to open a case to investigate elements belonging to the Moroccan police as well as to its Spanish counterpart, commonly known in Spain as La Guardia Civil, for their actions in regards to Sub-Saharan migrants.

The main reason for opening this investigation comes as a direct result of “seriously suspecting” elements belonging to both countries’ civil forces of violently beating some Sub-Saharan Africans while those latter were trying to make their way illegally to Melilia, on many occasions.

The case was triggered by a complaint filed Thursday, August 7 by Andalucia Acoge Association and SOS Racisme Federation PRO.DE.IN, after the aforementioned humanitarian organizations recorded the following video, which initially shows in many sequences what appears to be elements the Moroccan civil forces and La Guardia Civil severely beating with clubs some immigrants.
