Morocco’s Head of the Government, Abdellilah Benkirane, participated recently in the Davos 2015 World Economic Forum. Benkirane’s panel was entitled “Regions in Transformation Arab World,” and included Ayad Allawi, former prime minster of Iraq, Mahmoud Jibril, Former prime minster of Libya, Amr Moussa, the former head of the League of Arab States and Aref Ali Nayed, the Libyan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
When speaking about the wave of extremism taking ground in the Arab world, Benkirane said that “if any Islamist-based movement wants to bring prosperity and wealth to its citizens while respecting all people that do not agree with its ideology, then they are more than welcome to the political scene, but if they are here to bring destruction and violence to their countries, then we do not need you.”
