Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Two members of the Party of Justice and Development were gunned and wounded by the son of an Al- Istiqlal election candidate, but luckily survived as the arm used in the shooting was a traditional one used for hunting.
The assailant is the son of a candidate that presented himself in the last elections for the presidency of the rural municipality of Moulay Bouchta Lekhmar near Taounate, but lost miserably in the elections.
The two injured members were taken in expedition to the Hospital Hassan II of Fes.
The incident took place in Douar Mjdama on the 7th of September, meaning on the third day after the election day.
Both PJD members are now in stable condition, even though one of them needed surgery to remove the cartridge remains of his eyeball.
Morocco’s Assabah newspaper said that the assailant had fired no less than five shots at the victims.
His intention was to kill them as most of the injuries incurred were near the heads of the victims.
